What's New in SET-IT

The Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT) is a software tool that integrates drawing and database tools with the Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT) so that users can develop project architectures for ITS. SET-IT provides enhanced capabilities for project architecture development that go beyond the capabilities offered in RAD-IT. Be sure to install the latest updates to Microsoft Windows & Office before running SET-IT.

SET-IT Version 9.3 updated December 2024, now available for download, includes the following new-and-improved features:

• Improved the user interface by greying out buttons after diagrams are generated so the user doesn't think that they may need to click it again.
• Aligned the text for a flow name on a new horizontal line so the text will appear above the line instead of in the middle of the line.
• Added a check to prevent users from including an "&" (ampersand) in the name of a diagram as it is a special character that can be misinterpreted by some software including other parts of SET-IT.
• Improved the time it takes to list the potential columns to include in an output table
• Improved line styles to better distinguish different status values
• Switched the version-check API to use HTTPS for enhanced security.

This release corrects several issues with previous versions:

• Error that occurred when a user clicked the left side of the diagram and accidentally dragged what Visio calls a Vertical line guide onto the diagram.
• Errors when saving elements with special characters.
• Errors when closing the Assumptions and Constraints window.
• Issues with the Enterprise Diagram update that was improperly adding communication resources again.
• Issues with conversion where some functional objects were not properly converted.

Known Issues:

• Some users have noticed that SET-IT is still running after exiting; sometimes this only becomes apparent when you try to re-start SET-IT and it gets stuck at a certain point because the previous instance of SET-IT. The workaround is to use Task Manager to kill SET-IT and restart it.
• Some users have been unable to access the Help file within SET-IT. This may be due to a recent Microsoft 365 update. There is a PDF version of the Help file available from the ARC-IT website under Resources / Documents.
• Some users have reported that they get a System Resources Exceeded error. There is an option in the Advanced Options menu to increase the maximum number of file locks to try and alleviate this issue. If these issues continue, please contact the Help Desk.
• Following installation some users have reported an error that "Access Is denied" when they try to launch the tool due to a conflict between the SET-IT installation and your anti-virus software. Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus software and reinstalling SET-IT.
