Commercial Vehicle OBE --> Parking Area Equipment:
commercial vehicle parking arrival/departure times

Definitions

commercial vehicle parking arrival/departure times (Information Flow): Estimated time of arrival and departure confirmation for rest area, loading/unloading zone, and holding area reserved parking spaces.

Commercial Vehicle OBE (Source Physical Object): The Commercial Vehicle On-Board Equipment (OBE) resides in a commercial vehicle and provides the sensory, processing, storage, and communications functions necessary to support safe and efficient commercial vehicle operations. It provides two-way communications between the commercial vehicle drivers, their fleet managers, attached freight equipment, and roadside officials. A separate 'Vehicle OBE' physical object supports vehicle safety and driver information capabilities that apply to all vehicles, including commercial vehicles. The Commercial Vehicle OBE supplements these general ITS capabilities with capabilities that are specific to commercial vehicles.

Parking Area Equipment (Destination Physical Object): 'Parking Area Equipment' provides electronic monitoring and management of parking facilities. It supports an I2V link to the Vehicle that allows electronic collection of parking fees and monitors and controls parking meters that support conventional parking fee collection. It also includes the instrumentation, signs, and other infrastructure that monitors parking lot usage and provides local information about parking availability and other general parking information. The two primary approaches to monitoring parking area usage are sensing vehicles within parking spots or counting vehicles as they come in and as they leave the area. This portion of the functionality must be located in the parking area where it can monitor, classify, and share information with customers and their vehicles. See also the separate 'Parking Management Center' physical object that may be located in a back office, remote from the parking area, which interfaces with the financial infrastructure and broadly disseminates parking information to other operational centers in the region.

Communication Solutions

Solutions are sorted in ascending Gap Severity order. The Gap Severity is the parenthetical number at the end of the solution.

Selected Solution

(None-Data) - BTP/GeoNetworking/G5

Solution Description

This solution is used within Australia and the E.U.. It combines standards associated with (None-Data) with those for V-X: BTP/GeoNetworking/G5. The (None-Data) standards include an unspecified set of standards at the upper layers. The V-X: BTP/GeoNetworking/G5 standards include lower-layer standards that support broadcast, near constant, low latency vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications using the ETSI GeoNetworking Bundle over the 5.9GHz spectrum.

Basis Should not have any PII. Could be used to infer parking time for a specific vehicle only when fused with other data, and in that case would compromise only one vehicle. Applications relying on this data will not function properly if the data is incorrect, so it must be protected commensurate to the value of the application.
